Myths about Labour Hire

Over the years there has been many myths circulating about the value of having labour hire technicians on site. MRDS breaks down some of the stigma surrounding labour hire workers.

Myth #1 – Labour Hire is expensive.

If you compare the hourly rate of a standard employee and an MRDS labour hire worker on face value, MRDS may seem an expensive option. But if you break it down a little further you can start to see the benefit of engaging MRDS labour hire and field service.

We may still prove slightly more expensive on an hourly basis but with the uncertainty of the current economic climate, we offer piece of mind that if a downturn was to occur or your work load suddenly lighten, you can withdraw our services with 2 days’ notice. A full time employee requires you to try source alternative employment (resulting in costly idle time) or even worse you maybe have to terminate their employment completely (and pay out their full entitlements).

Myth #2 – Labour Hire workers don’t have accountability for their work as they are not direct employees of the company.

This myth could not be any further from the truth. Where full time employees can become complacent, our employees are fully aware, their quality of work is the deciding factor in whether a client continues to utilise MRDS’s services, which in turn ultimately decides the security of their employment. Our low staff turnover rate and the fact that several of our employees are currently placed at sites all over W.A and have been there for several years, stands testament to our quality of work and our desire to exceed customer expectation.

Myth #3 – Labour hire workers are often unreliable

While this one may be true for some labour hire establishments it certainly isn’t for MRDS employees. We guarantee all of our employees will present themselves on time and fit for work. If they can’t make it due to illness you will receive a phone call prior to the commencement of that day’s work and we will endeavour to send a replacement worker for that day. We also insist that all of our employees present themselves and their vehicles in a clean and tidy manner.
